ConvertVid by Nuclear Coffee is an affordable application that helps you convert video files between different formats allowing you to play them on portable devices like iPhone, iPod, PSP, Zune, iRiver Clix, AppleTV, QuickTime, and create DVD, VCD (Video CD), SVCD (Super Video CD). You can also extract audio from your videos to MP3, WAV, OGG Vorbis, WMA, AAC audio formats.
Supported formats include DivX, XVid, AVI, WMV, MPEG1, MPEG2, MP4, H.264, FLV, RealVideo, QuickTime and 3GP.
With this tool you have the ability to configure audio and video parameters of the output that include encoder, audio and video bitrate, frame rate and audio sampling rate, frame size, volume and audio channels, and output file extension. You will also be able to select a priority for the conversion process (since this is a CPU consuming task).
The program has a nice and simple interface with all the basics in a single window, it lacks some desirable features like video editing tools, but it is affordable, supports batch conversion and is compatible with the most popular formats making it a good option. If you want to test this software, a free trial is available for download.
